The weather forecast promised high winds and rain for the 18th November, so it was with a certain amount of trepidation that the marchers gathered on Horse guards Parade to fulfil their commitment to honour the Jewish dead of two World Wars and many other battles.

In bright sunlight on a pleasant November afternoon Jewish ex-servicemen and women together with their supporters and well-wishers gathered on Horse guards Parade, and marched to the Cenotaph for a service led by the Chief Rabbi, with Rabbi Harry Jacobi MBE and Rev; Malcolm Weisman participating, to remember those of our faith who had served and died in defence of the United Kingdom...

The day was cold, the wind bitter, the journey inconvenient, and the temptation to "Give it a miss this year" must have been very strong for the Ex-service community, who for the most part are in their late 70s or 80s.

It is to their credit that they put on warm clothes, gathered up hat and umbrella, fixed poppy in place and made the journey to Horse guards in London, to assemble on the afternoon of the 20th November 2005 to take part in a service to remember their co-religionists who served and gave their lives for the cause of democracy and freedom.

"Hello" said the Duke, striding briskly down the steps of the Foreign Office toward the Cenotaph. "Here we are again"

After 52 years H.R.H. Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh had returned to take part in the AJEX Ceremony of Remembrance.
