Join AJEX for the annual Remembrance Ceremony and Parade Sunday November 21st

Thursday 7th October 2021

AJEX is delighted to announce they are planning the 2021 Annual Remembrance Ceremony and Parade as an in-person event on Sunday 21st November at The Cenotaph.

The event will welcome for the first time a contingent of Jewish Army cadets from the newly formed JFS Combined Cadet Force.

The AJEX Annual Remembrance Ceremony and Parade is an opportunity to honour and remember the thousands of Jewish Servicemen and women who fought and served for our freedom. AJEX are proud of their service, strength and resilience, which has resonance today.

A major event in the Jewish calendar AJEX invites marchers to register to take part and invites the whole community to save the date to come and support those marching, honouring all who gave their lives for our freedom. AJEX is also encouraging the family of veterans to join the parade and wear their relative’s medals with pride. This will demonstrate the baton of Remembrance being passed through the generations.

AJEX National Chairman Mike Bluestone commented: “It is our duty to always remember the sacrifice that Jewish men and women made for this country. We are excited that we are planning to parade and honour in-person. This year will be especially meaningful given the difficulties of COVID over the past 18 months and is extra poignant as it marks the 100th year since the first wreath was laid at the Cenotaph by Jewish Servicemen. We look forward to parading in November and seeing as many of the community as possible join us to paricipate and support”.

AJEX is marking Remembrance 2021 in other ways too, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to Jewish veterans and serving community members - passing the legacy onto the next generation. For primary and secondary schools in-person or online Q&A’s with Veterans can be booked. Also, for a second year running, primary schools are invited to take part in a Remember in Red day and AJEX are calling on as many synagogues as possible to hold an AJEX Shabbat in their community on Shabbat 20th November.
